I recently purchased a Catalina 350 with the standard 4-piece teak companionway hatch boards. My previous boat, a Catalina 320, purchased used, came with a set of clear acylic hatch boards in addition to the teak ones. I would like to either buy a set for the C-350, or have one acrylic piece made to replace only the middle 2 teak boards. I've searched around but have not been able to find a company that makes them, yet I see used boats advertised as having them. Does anyone know of a source? Thanx!

Not on Idasailor website?

I couldn't find any reference to acrylic hatch boards on the Idasailor website. Is this something that they will custom fabricate if you call them? GB

Plastic hatchboards

Check out your local plastic distributors as a source and possible fabricator for replacement boards. You can save money be making them yourselve by using your existing hatchboards as template, new boards are very easy to replicate with simple cuts. We made two sets of replacement boards, a smoked lexan for cruising and white opaque set for everyday. High density plastic was used for the white boards. Both sets are very durable and should NEVER have to be replaced again.

Tap plastics

I've always just taken mine to Tap plastics and had them duplicate them in Lexan or Plexi. You might also try: http://www.cruisingconcepts.com/

Also,while your at it..

..make up a duplicate thats hollowed out in the center (can be wood ) so you can put screen in it..then when it's warm out...well,you get my drift.Anything you can do to improve airflow..on any boat..is a plus. Good Luck>>> David
