I noticed that there are boats in the SSS Transpac that have an LOA of 24 feet. I just wanted to get some ideas from Cat 30 owners, WOULD YOU SINGLE HAND A 30 TO HAWAII? What are the pro's and con's? I know it is a coastal cruiser, but so are some of the other boats crossing the blue water. What changes or additions would make it more seaworthy? Your Comments?

upgrades

I don't think it's unreasonable but the ride might not be the most comfortable. Beef up the rigging, reinforce bulkheads if needed, install positive latches on all cupboards/storage areas, create a seaberth (leecloth on stbd settee?). These are a few that popped into my head. There are countless others, I'm sure. LaDonna PS: You gonna sail her back solo too? Ick.

Comfort on a boat?

I guess you need to travel on an ocean liner to be comforable, maybe fly over to your destination and get your boat shipped or hire someone to deliver your boat "who can endure a little discomfort" (comfort is staying at home with your auto coffee maker, etc.).

The large entranceway and large cockpit with relatively small drains is a possible concern. Make sure that each of the hatch boards has positive latches that will hold them in place in case of a knockdown - it happens. Beef up battery systems and, if short-handed that distance, add wind vane steering. Add permanent jack lines, use safety harness. Install second bilge pump, spare masthead running lights, big radar reflector, extra water, some champagne, usual spares. Enjoy.

Bridge deck

Why not add a bridge deck both to stop flow and also add storage?
