I have a 311, and I don,t see a place on the transom to select hot or cold water for the shower. All I have is an on/off button on the top of the shower head. Am I missing something or is that the design for the 2001 model of this boat.

Sounds like a wash down hose and not a shower. If you have a water heater on board it is very easy to convert the shower to hot and cold and believe me when I say it will be well worth it. Install a mixing valve and run a tap to a hot water line. A complete kit like the one below can be found at a chandlery for around $50-$60.

I have a 2000 311 and mine is cold only. A mixing valve as suggested above seems like a nice addition, although that box would require cutting a big hole in the transom compared to the small one that is there now.

I have considered lengthening the hose that mine has so that I could use it to washdown the entire cockpit as well. Had looked into a rolling hose or something similar instead of the standard hose inside now.

You should be able to use what is on a B323- two holes, maybe 3 or 3.5 inches. Spout comes out of one, the on-off/hot cold handle is in the other.

Can't you put the current line on a remove mixing valve, then plumb it? If the valve was inside a cockpit locker it could work -- or put on another location. It's not perfect, but you'd not be cutting holes in the cockpit walls.
