Hi, The transom on my Mariner 2+2 (75ish??) has started to separate from the cockpit just above where the outboard motor bracket is mounted. This was done through the transom and the cockpit lining. Any thoughts on how to repair this? thanks joe
When you say separating do you mean delaminating or cracking? I would suggest that you get a fiberglass guy or a surveyor to have a look. Fixing it may involve tying the failing section into the rest of the hull - something that needs to be done right. Justinh - O'day Owners' Web
Justin, it's not a crack and I don't think it's delamination. The screws that hold the metal rub rail at the top of the transom are loose. It's as though the two pieces (the outer hull and the inner cockpit lining) were screwed together. I had thought I would just fiberglass the pieces together. ?? thanks j.
