Transom seat Catalina

On a newer Catalina where do you put the transom seat. Is there a system like the Hunter available?

Transom Seat

Just got our new C42 and immediately took the transom seat home and put it in the top of the garage.It's not comfortable to stand at the helm with the seat in place. Theoretically, it will hang on the stern rail, but we just couldn't see using it.

You can hang it on the life lines

On the C36 the seat is designed with slots such that it can be hung on the life lines. It is quite secure there, however I don't particularly like putting a lot of weight on the lifelines for any length of time as the seat is heavy and so I put it below. It is below most of the time when we are cruising so leaving it at home might be a better idea.A 'booster seat' is available via the C36 website. Go to the site below and scroll down. In the left column you will see and ad and you can click to get additional details. Perhaps they make them for other Catalinas as well (don't know what one you have).I do not have such a seat and would be interested in learning from the experience of anyone that has one.

Ken and Malcom are right!

You are right it is akward. I wonder if anybody ever found a way to modify it like the hunter system. I works well. Otherwise, maybe it will make a good seat next to the couch in the livingroom?
