My transom seems to flex from the weight and thrust from the outboard motor. Does anyone else experience this? The only thing inside the hull on the mounting bolts are fender washers. I could see this causing the gelcoat to flex over time, but the boat is an 82' and hasn't had a problem yet. I'm used to super strong transoms on powerboats.

We're using a 9.9 Evinrude Sailmaster longshaft.

Might consider adding a large backing plate, something like 3/4 plywood.

My H22 mounts are backed by 3"x3" 1/4" ss plates. Since someone else confirmed they have the same, I assume this is original. I don't see any flex on my transom. A 9.9hp motor is a bit large for a 22'. I have a 6hp Tohatsu SailPro, which I would consider the largest I would put on a 22'.

I have a 4hp and it flexes but I'm having issues with mine. I think I'll go with the ply wood backing.
