i have a 1975 paceship PY26 and ive just upgraded my outboard engine to a merc. 9.9 and have got a new bracket for it but the transom mounting block that was on there is not wide enough. help! is there any place where i can buy one, or is there a way to fabricate one that will not put to much stress on my hull and still be strong?

the spacer blocks were generally specially made by each manufacturer for particular models. I have never seen any for sale other than by the manufacturer. You can have one specially made by a fiberglass shop, but it will cost a small fortune. I remember that others on this site have reported making their own out of Starboard (the plastic wood replacement material) or out of wood. A jigsaw, some glue and you're there. I would go with the Starboard. It may be a bit more expensive than wood, but it won't rot and you will never have to paint it.
