Transmission Shift cable length - 1990 catalina 30

My cable has broken at the transmission, and I would like to find out if anyone knows the cable length for this boat? It could save me some time and possible problems trying to run a messenger line when I pull the old one. I would rather pull the new one through with the old cable if possible and save a step.

Will you be pulling the cable up through the pedestal? Have you looked into how to do that? According to Edson on my 1987 30 I have to loosen the steering cables and then lift the chain off of the sprocket so the pedestal control cable block can be pulled up and out. Is it the same on the 1990 C30?
