I am looking at removing the transmission from the Yanmar 3JH2E diesel on my 376 Hunter. I found some excellent photos on the IPYOA web site.
Has anybody done this (and has photos) on a Hunter?
The configuration of the engine bed is somewhat different from the 37 Island Packet. I am hoping that it can be done without removing the engine.

The key is that you need room to move the transmission straight aft about 3 inches to disengage the transmission input shaft from the damper plate in the flywheel. Most boats don't have enough room to slide the prop shaft and coupling aft that far after removing the coupling bolts. It is usually relatively easy to loosen the engine mounts and carefully jack up the aft end of the engine block enough to get the transmission coupling and aft end of the transmission to clear the shaft coupling half. Loosen all of the transmission mounting flange bolts before loosening the engine mounts .. Good Luck.
