I purchased a 1991 30T 2 weeks ago and am in the process of becoming familiar with all her systems. I went to check the transmission dipstick today on the Yanmar 2GM. It is located on the tranny bell housing and is orange. The instructions said not to screw it down so I just popped it back in the hole and pulled it out. Couldn't see any fluid. Previous owner had all fluids replaced in March and this oil probably has less than 10 hours on it. Am I not seeing any fluid because it is still too new and clear? I know when I change the oil on my car it takes a while before the dipstick shows oil, but at least I can see a ridge of fluid on that stick. The Yanmar manual indicates the transmission takes .25 liters. I've run the engine about 5 hours since I got the boat without any problem. Anyone have an opinion on whether I should add more oikl?Carl
