Transmission oil check

Wanting to be methodical and serious about my pre-sail checklist I am checking the oil in the transmission for my 1GM10 Yanmar. Problem is I don't know how to tell from the stick when it is full. There is a line about a quarter inch from the end of the stick. Is that the full mark. Can anyone out there verify this for me. Much appreciated.

Yanmar transmission oil level check depends on which transmission is being used. For example with Kanzaki measure the level by unscewing the fill plug/dip stick. Wipe it clean then insert the stick but do not screw it in. Remove the stick and the oil level should be just at the line (the line you describe located about 1/4 from the end.)

Charles describes how it works on my Yanmar/Kanzaki. But you can confirm for yourself by extracting your transmission oil and refilling with the required amount in your engine manual, then check the level against your dipstick mark. Then you know for sure.

Regular yearly oil changes are important in the Kanzaki wet plate transmissions.
