transmission leak

In filling my Hurth HBW100 transmission for winter storage I noticed a leak. Further examination shows the red fluid coming from the seal at the shift shaft. I have the transmission removed for other maintenance and I wonder now what to do. There are four bolts holding a plate that holds the shift shaft in place. Can I remove and replace this seal myself? Or do I have to send this in to have the work done by a trans expert? Over the summer the trans worked fine so I hate to pay for a total rebuild. I would not have noticed this leak except for the fact that I filled the transmission for storage. Any thoughts?

do it yourself

Had the same problem on my OD about 10 years ago. Over those 10 years I've forgotten the specifics but I do recall it being an easy do it yourself repair. And no problems since. Try MER Equipment in WA for parts if you have trouble with a local source.
