I recently had my heat exhanger replaced on my M-12 Universal (28' O'Day). The hoses that lead to my hot water tank, and one of the hoses that connect to the engine, now all run over the top of the transmission. Unless I disconnect one of the lines, I cannot reach my dipstick to check transmission fluid. Any suggetions. Space is tight in the engine compartment.

Install an elbow

Well, it might be a pain, but I would think you are going to have to find a way to re-route those hoses. It could be as simple as simply adding an elbow to the hose to direct a portion of the hose run away from the trans dipstick. Which in turn might require adding an extra few inches of hose to the line. But at lease this way you wouldn't have to replace the entire line, and you really don't want to have to remove the hose every time you check or replace the trans oil. Steve Christensen

Bigger longer hose

Dave Steve's right, but it might be better to just get a longer hose and route it yourself, instead of relying on the yard monkeys. Ain't it just great that you pay so much $$$ for some jerk to screw it up for you. Only way to offset that is to either do it yourself, or be there when he's there, but then, there's that work thingy........ Stu
