I have the Yanmar service manual in front of me and it shows that the 2GM20F uses the Model KM2-C transmission. Unfortunately, they list three possible reducion ratios for that transmission(Ahead/Astern): 2.21/3.06; 2.62/3.06; and 3.22/3.06. Guess you will have to hang upside down after all.
