What is a normal price? I'm finding in the neighborhood of $95 per night at Jersey Shore (Lavalette). Is this reasonable? Keep in mind that the price is probably influenced by proximity to ocean beaches and shore rental homes.

The higher priced ones that I've stayed at here in Southern California run about $1.30 per foot per night. For a 27 foot boat that would come out to $35.10.

they get $40.00 a night here but if you eat in the restaurant it's free ...i think that's to much being as how you have to travel 26 miles from icw to stay here and no washer and dryer or shower rooms...i think Turners gets $15.00 a night across the bay.......

Here's the SJ perspective. All three marinas are comparable in amenities.

Farley State Marina (AC, our marina until next month) would be around $81/night for 27"
Schooner Island (Wildwood, our marina after next month) is $2.75/ft, $75ish.
Harbour Cove (Somers Point) is $3.50/ft, 94.50

I thought it sounded high. One marina wants $3.25 per foot. The other wants a little more. I think it is influenced by the location. It's still a cheap way to stay a night at the beach. We can walk a few blocks across the way to the ocean beaches. I wonder if they negotiate! I'll just have to give that a try. Sue's sister has a (very small) rental house a few blocks from these 2 marinas for the week and we want to spend an overnight in the neighborhood.

Interesting - here in Newport RI the in season transient rate is $5-$6 per foot plus elec. Weekly/monthly rates lower.
As we went south winter of 2014-5 we were thrilled with: $4 in New York, and $1 at some locations along the ICW.
We assumed the lower prices were a reflection of the longer season.

$31.05 per night for a 27-foot boat in our marina. Apples & oranges though, as we're on the Minnesota/Wisconsin border.

Ask for a weekly rate.
It may be lower than the regular rate for 5 or 6 days.

$1.00/foot at the more expensive marina in Mexico.

4-6 pesos/foot (about $0.25-0.30) at the gov't-run Marina Fonatur. Dang, I love Mexico!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. ;)

don't drink the water
"Montezuma's revenge", huh?

Beer's almost like water.
But seriously, agua purificado is cheap and easily found in town.
They'll fill my gallon jug for about the same price as the per-foot price of my slip, just two short blocks away.

Oh, and I give the guy about 3 times that for the water, as a tip.

Puget Sound and San Juan Islands $1 to $1.5 per foot per night. Power is another $5 or $6 per night. Some places include power. State parks are $0.70 per foot. Mooring balls are $15.

A couple of suggestions. First is Tices Shoal which is in Island Beach State Park. It is just a little south of Lanoka Harbor or 6 miles south of the Toms River Bridge. Anchor, party and walk across over to the ocean for a modest fee (it is NJ after all). If one of you is over 62(?) you can get a free senior pass so it cost nothing. Second is the south shore of the Metedeconk River. Several nice anchorages (see Active Captain). The Atlantic is then about a nice mile walk down Mantoloking Road. Lastly, check with Traders Cove Marina which is just north of the Mantoloking Bridge. The beach is about a short 2 block walk over the bridge on the mainland side. They may have some transient slips. Then have your sister-in-law pick you up!

When I go near Tices Shoal, I always feel like I'm going to run out of water far off the shoreline. We have 3.8' draft ... how close can you get to the dock at the walk-over? We might anchor there Wednesday night next week, if we get away early enough to leave our marina in the evening. Our plan is to stay close enough for walking distance to their house, so we'll suck it up with regard to cost for a night or 2. We're not bringing a dink so anchoring is not in the plan. Trader's Cove looks very nice and a good destination for another time. Google Maps labels it as Mantoloking Bridge County Park. Facilities look nice and I suppose it is a destination where our dog (Shelby) can enjoy!
Actually, nice suggestion, now that I think about it! I think I'll check this out.

I've done the whole ICW from Port Isabel,, Tex around to Norfolk. Most marinas were charging 1-2.00 per foot last time I was through .

If it is just for one night think about the cheapest marina you can find and ask yourself if it will be worth $25-$30 to upgrade to the amenities or convenience of a nice one. Your limited time in the place is probably worth more than the difference in price.
