I am considering buying a fishfinder to use as a depthsounder. Most come with a transom mount transducer can this unit be used as a inhull transducer also?

No luck with a Garmin fishfinder
I couldn't get my Garmin Fishfinder 90 to work through the hull. The manual for the unit makes no mention of using it that way. I did check the manuals online for the Eagle and Hummingbird fishfinders and they both stated that you could use them "in hull". Manny

Don't know how much you want to spend, but I bought a Cuda 168 five years ago for $88 at Wal-Mart and it's worked perfectly for lake sailing. I've seen it on sale several times in recent months for $60, usually at Academy. Oh, and it shoots through the hull of my h23 just fine. Mac
