Transducer paint question

I have a stupid newbie question about bottom paint.
if the transducer is inside the hull should an area outside have the bottom paint removed?
If the transducer is thru the hull and is plastic will barnacles attach to it? Also I have been told that Pettit hydrocoat, which is what I use, can be applied over transducers. Anyone ever do this?

I have a shoot thru the hull transducer and never gave it a thought when I bottom painted my boat. Depth finder still works well.

Yes, you can paint the thru-hull depth transducer with hydrocoat. I have been doing so for several years, and it works fine. For the speed transducer you will need to carefully apply the hydrocoat with a small brush to get everything coated. I helps to thin hydrocoat with a little filtered water.

Also I have been told that Pettit hydrocoat, which is what I use, can be applied over transducers.

There are also anti fouling paints available that are specially formulated for use on transducers. But since you already use a paint that plays well with transducers, your problem seems to be solved.

My painter painted the brass transducer on my H23. Before I put it in the water should I try to scrub the paint off? It was painted with Trinidad petit bottom paint 2 coats.
