transducer mounting question i want to mount a depth sounder (display has two docks (one for cabin, one for cockpit)) the transducer is a skimmer type (low drag, not through the hull though.) i would like to mount the transducer forward of the keel, so i can see what i'm about to hit + not what i just hit. does anyone have experience / thoughts on the idea of: running the cable over the transom, then forward along the bottom, parralel to the keel/hull joint, then attatching it a foor or so forward of the keel. cable has to travel aft due to way cable comes out of transducer. any ideas on what adhesive would be best? i plan to use marine goop to hold the cable tight to the hull + transom.

Some questions & thoughts

What brand/model depthsounder? Is there a reason you cannot mount the transducer inside on a bed of epoxy and use it as a shoot-thru? I have a Piranaha Max 15 which came with a transom mount transducer which I mounted in epoxy forward of my keel. Works great. By the way, mounting forward of the keel is a good idea but I would not expect to use it as an early warning alarm but rather as a just before impact alarm...
