transducer intallation for a Garmin 440 Chartplot

HELP...Does the Hunter 27 (1976) have a cored hull? The reason I ask is I'm going to install a transponder for a newly purchased Garmin 440 Chart plotter. (wish me luck) If the hull is cored (has a middle of a soft material between an inside and outside fiberglass layers) then the installation would require cutting the first layer down to the hull layer...if on the other hand the hull is solid fiberglass the installation would be much simpler. Needless to say it's important to know. Any guidence on this subject is much appreciated.Thanks,Michael Fox

Hi Michael, probably not. Hunters typically...

A test...

I’ve been told that you can place the transducer in a plastic bag of water, set it in the hull area of question, and try it. The water in the bag removes any air between the transducer and the hull. If it works, then you know your good to go.
