I hope to install inside hull but only have access ( I think ) to the stern 1/3 of the boat. The unit is Hummingbird Paranha 150 I am planning to test with a plastic bag of water. I am wondering if anyone has found the perfect spot to epoxy down a transducer inside hull on a 22 Oday 1976. Thanks

I put the transducer puck near the centerline under the cockpit sole. I know that some suggest near the bow so that the transducer is shooting through water undisturbed by the keel cutting through the water, but I didn't have enough wire to get there and this has worked fine. I epoxied a three inch pvc sewer pipe cap with a screw top to the hull, and then used silicone chalk to attach the puck to the hull inside the cap. That way, if the puck fails or I want to upgrade, I don't have a useless puck epoxied to the hull. I then cut a hole through the top of the cap for the wire. I used a rubber battery terminal post cover that I made a cut in to slide the wire through, and then fit it in the hole to seal it so that the water I put in the cap doesn't slosh out. I'll try to get some pictures for you later in the week. I have been happy with how it works. See the link below for how I mounted the unit to a swing-arm.

I did pretty much the same and get the same readings as the guy in the next slip who has a rather extensive through the hull unit. I have an inexpensive Hawkeye and used silicone to mount it in my 22, mid cabin on the port side.
Made sure the area was really dry, laid a bit of silicone there and used duct tape to hold it into place. So far - So Good.

I got a Humminbird HDR-610 with an in hull transducer before getting out to the rOnDAYvous trip. I was thinking of gluing it near the centerline under the cockpit sole as well. Maybe I will try with silicone as I am apprehensive of epoxying it as well.

I'll chime in with the results.

Well I installed the in Hull transducer in the bow in the water tank area. Seems to be working so far. Used silicone with some duck tape so its not permanent. Time will tell.

I got out to the boat today and took the camera so I got a picture of how I installed my transducer. I used the cap end of a pvc sewer pipe and epoxied it to the hull just off the centerline behind the battery. I cut a hole in the top of the screwed in piece, and then put a rubber battery post cover in the hole to seal it. The rubber piece has a slit in it so that the plug end of the transducer cable can be fed through it, and then it seals up around the wire to make it essentially watertight. Then I put a bead of silicone chalk on either side of the transducer and pressed it in place. There is still a gap on the bottom side of the transducer for water to flow under. I then put some water in the pipe and screwed the top on. It works just fine, and protects the transducer from things I have stored below the cockpit.
