Doe's any one know the frequency of a Pacific scientific depth recorder, I am trying to decide whether to keep the one already installed in the boat for a spare or removing it and filling the hole.

It has less to do with the frequency than with the connector and API at the display unit. I had an older Standard Horizon transducer that would not work with a newer SH unit. Hence, I had to either remove the old and replace with a new sounder, or install a new transducer in a different location. I opted for the latter; a Garmin transducer and new Garmin 440s display. It was SH's loss.

Thanks for the info Rich but the unit is fine I just need to know the frequency of the transducer. I am sure the unit was installed on the boat as original equipment. and is no longer made.

I guess I don't understand what you are asking then. The Frequency posted on most sounders is the frequency of the sounding unit; 200 khz and/or 50 khz. That is not the protocol used to transmit data from the sounder to the display unit. The frequency is what focuses the sounding beam toward the bottom. A higher frequency produces a narrower pattern of sonic energy. For more information, see http://www.boatus.com/boattech/SelectTransducer.htm

Rich maybe I didn't explain it right I guess I should have ask what frequency was the unit 50 or 200 khz. there was no info on the unit and I was curious as to what it was. the unit I am replaceing it with is 200 khz and I was going to leave the old transducer if it was 200khz. for a quick repair if ever needed. The only thing you can do is test it. There were a number of frequencies used back in the 70's & 80's and while 200 kHz is the most common 210, 178 and some others were also used.

I am currently using a 1979 Radarsonics 200 kHz transducer with a 2010 ST-60 Depth....
