Just sold my Hans Christian 43T. I loved the boat and made a number of ocean passages in her. It just got to be to much for me to maintain, and I was the only maintainer. I have always admired the O'Day 34. While I know the HC is much more heavy duty, I do feel that I could have made any of these passages in a smaller boat. The trick is to pick the right time to do it. I'm looking at a difference in displacement of nearly 3:1. Does anybody know of ocean passages made with the O'Day 34--either successful or not? Bill I have not heard of trans oceanic voyages on a 34 but I have read of a father/son tean who sailed their O'Day 27 across the pond and back (after some heavy duty rigging and a total refit) Also of a number of O'Day 25's that cross the gulf stream regularly getting to the Bahamas from Fla. Thanks, Mike. If the 27's can cross the stream, that is the toughest part. I think when I made my longest passage--from West Africa to St. Maartin, I could have done it in a 24-footer. Bill
