A friend of mine fried the trans in his '82 C-30 with the 11HP Universal. Is it possible to remove the trans without pulling the motor? If I have to pull the motor, anybody have any quick tips?

Pull the motor

I had to pull my motor as part of a repower last year. It's really not that big a deal. Just remove all hoses, wires, fuel lines, etc. Remove the coupling to the prop shaft & remove all 4 bolts that hold the motor in place. Remove the mainsheet from the traveler, open the sliding hatch all the way & use the mainsheet & boom to lift the motor up & over the side. I used a wheel barrow on a finger pier & just wheeled the motor away (in my case, to the dumpster). I hope this helps. Allen Schweitzer s/v Drambuie Hull #632

Leave the motor in

My hurth 50 was replaced 2 years ago and the mechanic left the motor in the boat and attached a hoseclamp to the shaft to keep it from sliding out. It wouldnt slide out because i put the zink on 4" form the strut
