I just purchased a 1989 CAT 22 wing keel that came with a trailor. While the boat is in good shape the trailor is not. All the carpet has rotted off the bunks and the once painted trailor is covered in rust. While most of the rust appears on the surface and has not eaten through in any spots I have detected. These appear to be the original wood bunks, so I'm concerned about their integrity. My plan is to have the trailor sandblasted, repainted and apply new bunks and carpet. I have no idea about the status of the braking and electrical systems. I was wondering if anyone had taken on such a project and what were their results? Is it worth pursuing trying to salvage this trailor or go in search of one that may be in better shape?
