There was a question a while back from someone looking for a trailer in Virginia. I could recommend a place but could not remember the name or location. Well, I found a receipt and can now recommend Hibbard Iron Works on Aberdeen Road in Hampton just in case anyone is still interested.

I use to live in Newport News and believe I know whom you speak of. Trailers for the water ballasted boats are much different as they were designed specifically for those hulls. If looking to buy a trailer for a water ballasted boat, then you should get the correct one. One example is the length of the bunk boards and so forth. Location of the bunk boards on the hull is another. Crazy Dave

There You Go

While we are on the subject, what are your thoughts Dave on adding a second axle to the trailer for my 23.5? Am I crazy to do it? Seems the boat and all of it's associated stuff is going to push it well over the 3500# the single axle is rated for. It does fine for the few miles we travel now but sooner or later we are going to have to move it considerably further and it has me concerned.

Rick; Figure on about 3400 pounds on the trailer total. Do you have brakes? If not, suggest that you do so for trailering. You should be fine with one axle. Suggest regular maintenance such as regular greasing of the hubs but strongly recommend that you pull the rims off and check the bearings. I like Timpken bearins. Make sure lugs are tight. IF taking a tire/rim off, go about 20 miles or less and retighten. check the fenders for tightness and the wiring harness where it touches metal so the insulation is not worn thru. Also, check the boards to make sure they are treated lumber and if need replacing, do so. Regular maintenance is a must for trailering. I have never had any problems with the 23.5 trailer on one axle. Crazy Dave Condon
