trailering to Battleship Cove

I just bought a 23' Oday. I wondering if anybody regularly trailers the same boat. I am also curious to know if the launch at Battleship Cove in Mass is deep enough for routine launching. This boat draws 4'.

About Trailering a Oday '23

Jeff,Since I am in Minnesota and not in Mass. I have no idea about the landing. However, I have been a trailer for many (15) years. The Oday '23 is a great boat to lauch as long as you have enough water depth aand a good trailer. I have a Shorelander and it is a very good one. The lake I sail in most often has a shallow landing so I rigged a block and tackle system to asist in launching the boat. I put a pin (large steel dowel) in the keel and ran steel cables from the very back of the trailer to a winch at the front of the trailer. Now when I am about to launch I slip tyhe stell cable up and over the pin the then simply crack the boat off the trailer. Sound weird but really works.

Somerset Waterfront Park

We have used the ramp at Somerset Waterfront Park many times to launch a 14' powerboat, kind of a steep hill getting in and out of the park and the roads leading up to it are a bit tight. However, the ramp seems deep and well maintained with floating docks to tie up to. Daily rate was $5.00 last time we went. The one problem wit hthis ramp is that it has no shelter from the numerous powerboat wakes created by the large powerboats roaring up and down the river. This ramp is about 5 miles up river from Battleship Cove. Now for the good news, if you launch at Somerset Waterfront Park, head upriver and then turn into the river that you will see off to starboard....you will wind your way up the Assonet River. If there wasn't a bridge (Route 24) in the way, you would soon find yourself looking at D & R Marine!I had a friend who used to launch his Chrysler 26 from a ramp in Swansea, usually did it solo!
