on where to stay, moorings, guest slips, mast-up storage, launch ramps, must sees and must eats. I have a pretty good gps map of marina and would like to mark waypoints of interest and water hazards in the harbor. It is my daughters first time on the boat and would like to stay in the harbor for one day and venture out on my own the other days. Maybe even some secret fishing holes in the area. Thanks in advance for all of your suggestions, Frank

Not familiar with this boat

but I am sure that scuppers leading into the bilge was not the origional design or intent. That makes no sense to me. Should go directly overboard. As far as the bilge pump, some boats have a sump, some don't. Others will have to answer that part of the question.

how did I do that

Strange. Answered a post and it ended up in another place. Maybe I put the fingers in motion before I put the brain in gear.

Mac trips in San Diego

Frank, my previous boat was a Mac "S". My favorite weekend trips in San Diego started with a launch at the South ramp in Mission Bay adjacent to Sea World. From there we would sail out and down to San Diego Bay to Chula Vista. Arrive late afternoon/early evening at the marina and pull into Bob's on the Bay for dinner. They have 3 or 4 slips for guests. Stay late and get ok to spend the night. Or anchor in the south flats in 5 ft. Another choice is to go north to Oceanside. Hail Harbor Master for access to guest slips. Many places to eat within walking distance of the guest slips.

Ideas..............................

In SD bay you can anchor overnite in a couple areas. Glorita Bay is nice. You can dink over and explore Coronado Island (hotel Del, downtown area), Marriott might have a guest slip (not cheap), but great amenities and walking into gaslamp and Petco/Padres stadium. You can weekend anchor behind Shelter Island next to SDYC (nice & quiet). Then if weather permits sail out around Point Loma (need to mind the kelp, stay well outside the kelp line)to Mission bay. Anchor in Mariners Cove. If your draft allows and your mast height allows you can explore the inner bay.

Does anyone know the bridge clearances

at Mission Bay? Specifically the Ventura and the Ingram St. bridges. It appeats that the landings near Sea World have finger docks per Google Earth. I will be launching and disembarking solo. Frank

Bridge clearances in Mission bay.

both are 38 ft, according to mission bay chart. Launch your boat at Dana Landing or Santa Clara Point. Check for guest slips at dana landing or one of the four marinas in Qivera Basin.(marina village, seaforth, mission bay marina and Hyatt Islandia) Watch your depths inside the bridges. I wouldn't stay at Perez cove because it's too close to Sea World. You can see the fireworks from anywhere in Mission bay. You can anchor up to 72 hours in Mariner's cove, no fee.

My situation Joe is that I will likely be by myself and it appears

from the aerial shots of Dana Landing that there are no finger docks. Does anyone have a good technique for disembarking at a landing with no finger docks? I know I will need some guides to assist driving the boat on to the trailer but securing the boat to the trailer while I haul my fat ass over the pulpit and onto my tailgate, could be problematic if not entertaining. Any suggestions? Are people patient while you leave your truck and trailer on the landing and run to fetch your boat from the nearby dock? I would be a lot easier with a partner. Thanks for all of your help thus far. Frank

I know this may be a little to the south...

But a lot of Mac's offload at the Chula Vista boat ramp. Two finger docs and me! My boat is just a few hundred yards from the boat ramp. Chula Vista boat ramp is off of I5 at the J Street/Marina Way exit. Just a thought. You going to be in the south bay on Saturday? I was going out thought I'd look for your Mac.

Thanks Brian looks perfect..

You are only 22nm to Mission Bay. After looking the area over with Google Earth the bay looks like a great place to sail. I may wait a couple of weeks. We are having Mother's Day at Dana Pt. I would still like to put in at Mission Bay. I used to sail my Hobie there a few years ago. However, I need to set up for single handedly loading the boat. Thanks again, Frank
