I have now trailered a 1987 23' Hunter and a 1990 23' Hunter. Both when trailering wander side to side limiting the speed traveling. 55 is ok until cars and semi's are doing 70 and 75 in both lanes and kind of looking at you with gritted teeth. I would at least like to get to 65 safely. I towed the 87 with a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 1990 with a 97 Tahoe, I believe that the tongue weight is not enough. But I have to believe others have had the same problem. What did you do. I am planning to mount a compartment to hold the rudder and the motor near the "V" of the trailer. Maybe even the spare tire. The one other thing that I was hoping to do was mount an extension bar for launching offset of the regular ball. The original extension really isn't long enough for some of the areas that I launch in. And yes! After 10 months I have finally made it into the water for my first time with a larger boat. Had a 14' boat. My wife and I had a ball.

Tongue weight or the lack of....

can cause the trailer to dance around a lot. On our 95 H26 and same year trailer we had to remove the outboard and fuel tank ahd put them in the pick-up bed. This moved about 130# off the rear of the boat. I also pack as much of the boat gear forward in the boat so it is in front of the trailer front axle. Also make sure the trailer tires are properly inflated. The tires on my tow vehicle are approx. 40 in front and 50 in the rear. My tow truck is a Ford 1/2 ton pichup. If your rear tires were low that will also move the trailer around.

Move bunks forward on the trailer...........

I still have a trailerable C-22, and have encountered similar problems with mine. The best (although quite expensive solution) is dual axle and four wheels on the ground of the trailer. However, having the bunks moved further forward, taking the outboard off and putting it in the v-berth (not before wrapping it in plastic to keep any messes from hitting the inside of the boat), moving the gas can into the tow vehicle and putting all other "on board" materials as far forward as possible in the nose of the boat (heaviest furthest forward) has helped tremendously. I can now move in traffic with the best of them, but still start to sway at about 75MPH. Too fast to travel pulling a boat anyway. Before, I had sway begin at about 45-50MPH. Good luck!!!

75MPH!!!!!!!!!!

That's a very fast speed for a lttle car or SUV to be pulling a 23 or better boat. On the hiway, I'd give you looks too! Jim
