Anyone have experience(s) in regularly trailering an O'Day 26? I once owned a 25 and she lived on a trailer, traveling many great distances to sail other places. I am curious as toi whether the 26 is as suitable for and easily trailerable as the O'Day 25 was. Thanks for your reply(s).

Trailering

I trail an Oday 26 in Southern California. While I've never had an Oday 25, I can only assume they are both very similar, with the 26 being a few inches longer. It's actually difficult to trailer a boat that large in my area, what with all the traffic and hills. I use a 1978 Suburban which was given to me by a friend. I replaced the motor with a new 7.4 liter with a 4bbl carb. It hauls, launches and recovers the boat with no problems, but it really drinks the gas down! I'm lucky to get 8 mpg what with all the hill climbing and stop and go traffic jams. I now keep my boat at a slip in San Diego, and occasionally trailer it to LA, so I can sail to Catalina.

trailering 26

I have 25 and I think you would just have to leave a foot sooner to get there the same time. Question, why did you go from a 25 all the way up to a 26? :). Did you want a different keel? gene

Answers to your questions

I had a new 25 in 1978...Kept it many years, always trailering. Wonderful! I am looking for either a 25 or 26 now, to trailer only. Found more 26s than 25s in better shape and closer to me. John
