I am about to buy a 1987 Hunter 26.5 but need to have a trailer built to transport it. All trailer builders are asking the keel depth....does anyone have any idea what that is? The boat I am buying is 450 miles away and in the water...so I am not abe to measure it. Thank You

Try the link - but I can't tell you if it is accurate or not.

Keel Depth

I did a quick Hunter search with our hosts and found under specifications that the draft of a 1987 Hunter is 3 foot 6 inches. Any help? Lots of specs there. Just do a search for a hunter boat and click on specs. Hope this helps. If you are going to keep the boat in the water, perhaps you can rent a trailer from someone local. That way you would drag an empty trailer there and be home when you get back with the boat. No long "return the trailer" trips. Good luck.

Questions

If you are only going to haul it once then why not just pay a boat transporter to move it? Probably would cost less than buying a trailer. If you need a trailer I'd suggest you call Hunter for the exact specs. Having the trailer match the boat is very important. Worst case drive to the boat, have it lifted up and take precise measurements and lots of photos.
