A new saga in getting my oday 23 back in the water after 5 years. My EZ loader trailer winch is completely rusted. I may be able to clean it but would prefer to go ahead and buy a new one. The question is, I know the oday 23 weighs 3000Lb but someone told me since I am using a trailer with rollars I dont really need a 3000lb capacity winch. Any suggestions?

Hey bud ! I have an O'Day 23 also. I have the same set up ..... rollers. I wouldn't think that you would need a heavy duty winch ....... mine isn't. Its not like you are trying to lift 3000#. Now I do use two of those larger yellow, ratchet style, tie down straps on her when I tow her home. But I wouldn't think you'd really need a larger(than what is on your trailer now) winch. i was looking for a winch last year and some websites had a formula for calculating the winch size you need. i can't remember the site but it might have been one for fulton winches. if not, check some other manufacturers websites. ever think of having the trailer painted. my neighbor got a guy to do it for a couple hundred. check around for someone to sand blast and paint. it's not as expensive as a car. you can use tractor paint and not worry about a few runs.
