Trailer swaying O'Day 25?

I was reading the previous posts on the weight of the O'Day 25 & trailer and that reminded me of a scary time on the freeway with my 25. I have a dual wheel trailer with brakes and was tooling down the freeway with a borrowed Navigator and it started swaying back and forth when I went over about 50 or so. That much uncontrolled weight moving around so much made me very concerned.Someone mentioned that when they increased the tongue weight, their sway problem went away. Are there other issues I should consider? What causes the sway? Since our sailing season is soon drawing to a close, I want to make sure I can tow it safely home.sPk

Swaying

I too have experianced swaying while towing our 25 Oday.This is what we have found that really helped. Make sure the bow is snug up against the forward stop. Check the air pressure in the tires. Install a sway bar. Use a drop hitch to lower the attachment point.This helped a lot! Replace rear shocks of tow vehicle.

Preventing trailer swaying

Make sure the tandem axles are indeed parallel with one another, and perpendicular to the longitudinal axis along the center of the trailer from tongue to the back...

I think you have too much tongue weight....

You want about 500 to 600# max tongue weight. More than that, the trailier will sway. I would move the boat back alittle, say 6 inches at a time, until you find a good weight.r.w.landau

Timmwhat sway bar do you use. I thought with trailer surge brakes a sway bar wouldnt work
