Been struggling with how to deal with bottom paint on a new H260 used primarily in the Great Lakes. Dealer wants $1200. West Marine web page says to use Copolymer Ablative Paints for boats that spend a lot of time out of the water. Maybe it is not even needed until I decide on a wet slip? I have a big heated storage shed. Can I do this myself or should I just let the dealer do it the first time?

Not needed till you keep it in for week +

Just wax bottom, and it will come off and on trailer EZer than with Ablative,a 26 is not hard to paint (you will need to strip off wax before painting,1 gal. is lots and is around $125)later if you are a handy type!
