I just brought her in for the season. Each year I stress about the boat going on the trailer centered and balanced. There have been times where any additional weight on the stern causes the trailer tongue to lift and slightly tilted. The modifications I made to the trailer appear to have the boat resting perfectly. Plenty of tongue weight. Easiest haul in ever.

I have a 23 - what were the mods - just the wood blocks that center the keel, or others we can't easily see?

Thanks, Peter

adjustments

Hi Peter

I discovered some of the bunk boards were soft and needed to be replaced. When I bought the boat, it was seated on the trailer 10" behind the bow chocks. There was no way to move it forward, even in the water, because the keel gouged at the keel bunk. I raised the hull bunks to a point where the front of the keel rests as you see in the pics. I would guess that weight is distributed 40% on keel bunk 60% on hull bunks.
The boat guides were necessary because the water is very dark where I sail. The trailer literally begins to disappear 4" below the surface of the water. The keel guide has 1" of play on either side of the 2x10 boards. It centered perfect, and easily. I also installed a slot to hold the tiller. I replaced the old cable winch, with a strap. I mounted a spare tire on the front.
I'm still trying to perfect the mast take-down process. Slow and heavy. Also, I'd like to figure out a way to either travel with the motor mounted, or find a spot on the trailer to secure it.

I hope you place round white pvc piping over the metal poles sticking up from the trailer or your boat will be marked up badly by the metal.
