trailer keel boards .

The carpeted boards that the keel would slide on are rotten . Were there originally a one by or two by piece of lumber . It looks like they would be easier to replace with the boat off the trailer although they could be replaced with in in place . Any reason not to launch and then replace ? Anyone know the orignial size? Thanks Mike boat is 1994 23.5

As long as the centerboard is up and tied well for a short trip only, you should be fine. However if long trip, suggest you remove the old boards and replace. If the centerboard line should ever break, you will be up the creek without a paddle.
