O'Day 272LE Tyler
Can any one tell me if a 1996 28' Trail-n-Sail Tandem Axle Trailer will work for an O'Day 1986 27LE? Its made by Road King and currently was set up to carry a 28' Hunter. The Hunter has a 5' draft and the O'Day has a 3' draft. I know the pad boards are adjustable but do not know how far down they adjust. Wondering if anyone may have the same trailer for their boat?
Thanks!!

I think it depends on whether the trailer has adjustable pads or bunks. The pads will only lower so far. The bunks can be lowered by cutting the posts shorter, so they will clear the ground underneath the trailer. I bought a trailer for a Colgate 26. I had to lower the bunks for my 272. With the bunks lowered, I had to cut the posts to keep them clear of the ground underneath the trailer.
You need about 6500 lbs gvwr to carry the 5300 lb O'day 272.

If the trailer has the adjustable pads, you could cut the tops off the tubes for the screw jacks to slide into if they are too tall when adjusted down fully. I would hate to do that. You cannot easily fix that in the future.

If you shorten the poles for bunks, you can replace them with longer poles later on.
