Does any one know a mechanic or an outfit in the Miami area that can restore a trailer for a H26. I bought a 1994 H26 in 1999, took the boat to the ramp, and never used the trailer again. When I went to retrieve the trailer to get the boat out for Hurricane Frances I found that all wheels were locked, everything was rusted, boards were rotten, lights did not work, etc. I am looking for someone in the Miami area that I can pay to restore it. Please help, fmejia@att.net or Forum

Hunter 26 Boat has been sold - Currently boatless :(
I am doing the work myself

Felipe, This will not help with your question, but I just wanted to let you know that I am about to perform all those repairs on my own 1994 H26 trailer. I will be replacing all the brakes, brake lines, actuator and hub/bearings as well as all wiring for lights. I intend to replace the bunks and raise them slightly as the centerboard currently hits the forward crossmember. I have done all the research and identified all the parts I will need. I intend on keeping a photo record of the project for anyone looking to do the same on their own. If you have any questions I can help with please feel free to ask. I plan on starting the work this weekend Sept. 11th 2004. Good luck in having yours repaired. Regards, -Pat

Doing it yourself is the best option

Pat: Thanks for your response. I found a couple of places in Miami that can do the work. I had them replace the bearings and and remove what was left of the brakes so that I could move the boat in case Ivan hits us. However, the quality of work was really sub-standard and the cost was astronomical. The trailer still needs a lot of work. I will follow your advise and do the work myself. Thanks again and happy sailing Felipe
