the original daysailerI trailer that came with the boat was stolen right out of my dooryard. the old man found another pseudo-trailer for the o'day. unfortunately this trailer has done more harm than if the boat was sitting on the ground. if my research is correct, the daysailer I has 300 pounds of ballast in the hull. because of this added weight, it is my belief that any old boat trailer will not do. so, I guess my question is; can I retrofit a pseudo-trailer to compensate for the added weight and how and what do I do? Or can I build one? I saw some yankee ingenuity down in southport - some one had biult there own trailer out of pressure treated lumber. this trailer is probably good for hauls not further than a couple 3, 4, 5 miles I would imagine. Any help is appreciated.

Ralph - If its an O'day Daysailer, the hull is pretty heavy but there is not additional ballast. Nevertheless, you do want to make sure that the boat is propperly support to avoid hull damage. You can retrofit any trailer with sufficient weight capacity by adding new bunks or rollers. Just make sure the hull is well supported and you will be all set. If you want some hands on, drop me a line, I'm just down in Portland. Justin - O'day Owners' Web
