My wife and I just bought our first Catalina 22 swing keel. It is in great shape, but the only problem is that is no trailer is included. We want to get one, but we're not sure if any trailer will do. What do any of you suggest? Will a standard 22 foot boat trailer work or do we need a special one the will support the keel, taking stress off of the cable assembly? Rich

I'll answer that one...

Yes, you definately want to support the keel while the boat is on the trailer rather than letting it hang by the cable. Hitting bumps and such while driving will stress not only the cable and winch, but also the cockpit step the winch is bolted to. Mine has a bit of a sag in it because the previous owner never let the keel rest down on the support. I don't have the "normal" Catalina trailer. I have a "Skipper B" that has a carpet covered plank mounted down the center for the keel to sit on. Congrats on your purchase and good luck finding a trailer.
