Hello: Got a lead on a 22 with no trailer. What are the specs on a trailer for this boat? Bunks or rollers? Painted or galvanized? Boat is in water here in MD and the guy is motivated to get rid of it. 1970 or there a bouts vintage and has a '99 Rude motor. What kind of trailer do I need for this? I will look at the boat tomorrow and decide if this is worth pursuing. Thanks, Bill

22 trailer

Bill I have a 1970 Cat 22 # 81. You will need to know if the Catalina you are looking at has a Swing keel or not, this will make a big difference in how high the Catalina 22 will sit off the ground. My Catalina is a swing keel style, it has two bunks that the boat sits on. There is a single axel with an extending tongue. The tongue extends out about 8 feet when the boat is launched. There is a bumper in the center of the trailer for the Swing keel to rest in. My boat was hard to get on the trailer, I found a spray for the bunks that works great, (Marykate liquid rollers) I get it at West Marine. I don't know anything about the fixed keel and kow it is trailered. If you need to get a trailer, get it Galvanized, this is if you think you might launch in salt water. My trailer is painted, I fight rust a lot,on the trailer launching in the salt water of the San Francisco Bay. I hope that this helps. Fair Winds AL

Tnx Al

Ya know, I didn't ask the guy if it was fixed or swing. Duh. Maybe that's why he has no trailer. Thanks for the head slap, I don't want a fixed keel. Bill

There are lots of C22s and most have trailers. If you have to buy a trailer your good deal may not stay so good.

Catalina 22

Yes I agree, putting together the parts can be much more expensive than a package. I'm looking. I looked at a 1975 today and it seemed to be more of a project than I was willing to buy into. Had a trailer and 7.5 Honda 4 stroke. But the vessel was really rough. Soooo, what do you folks think the ballpark price for a non major project boat, with a trailer and motor, should be? Thanks for your thoughts, Bill
