Does anyone know where I can find a good cover for my Hunter 216 when it's on its trailer?

"White Super Storage Covers" from WM

Hi Jon, If you intend to take your mast down when the boat is on the trailer you may want to look at using a white 3mil polyethylene tarp (15'x25' for ~$30) that West Marine sells for a boat cover. It worked well for me.

Storage Cover

Hi Lamar! We don't trailer our 216, so she's only stored off-season. With the mast down, I've always dismounted the spreaders and covered with 2 cheap blue tarps. I'd like to try your idea, though, but what do you do about the spreaders, don't they punch thru the tarp eventually? Thanks.

Storage cover

Hi Jacktar, I really didn't have any problem with the spreaders. The mast was positioned with the spreaders down with the boom supported under the mast. This type cover is fairly durable and based on my experience should last at least two or three years. Lamar

H216 boat cover

The largest boat cover offered by Wal-Mart works just fine on the H216 when on a trailer. Cover goes under the mast/spreaders. It is not waterproof. I use the Wal-Mart cover in the summer as it is easy to put on and keeps out the dirt, etc. I use a couple UV resistant silver covered tarps from K-Mart in the winter and cover the entire boat/mast/spreaders. In winter, I use a couple home made spreader supports and a mast support which goes onto the mast step to help with the snow load. When it snows (couple times a year for me), I go out and clear off the snow frequently. I would be nervous about a lot of snow load without a lot more mast support.

Thanks, Lamar

Hi Lamar! I'll probably get that cover, but will still dismount the spreaders which is no big deal, especially after Ranger Paul mentioning snow load on them. I prop the mast anyway. Don't need bent spreaders if I couldn't get the snow off soon enough.
