Retrieval methods onto trailers has a lot of history on these threads. But, I can't find anywhere if anyone has tried screwing the plastic liner strips over the carpeted bunks to make it easier to pull the boats up. They would reduce friction. Bass Pro has these for power boats but those bunks are usually in line with the movement instead of across the hull like ours. Any experience out there? Thanks.

I've been useing petroleum jelly about 2x a year on the carpet.

only reason(I can think of) not to use the starboard would be reduced surface area for the load on the trailer.

I've been using Marykate "Liquid Rollers" - it's a spray-on, I think silicone, they sell at West Marine.

Petroleum jelly?

Incidentally, how old are your bunks? I just had to replace mine on my 1999 trailer, when one of them came loose on the inboard end.:cussing:
Replacing the bunks is a couple hours work (plus two rolls of bunk carpet and two 8-foot pressure treated 2x4s) - but if you've got any questions at all about them, replace them the next time your boat is in the water!
