Trailer bunk boards

I bought a 1999 Hunter 240 late in the season last year. The previous owner kept the boat in the water most of the time, so the trailer was practically unused. During my final retrieval last year, I noticed one of the boards at the center of the trailer, where the centerboard rests, had broken. I had the board replaced recently by a local MagicTilt dealer. I took the boat out this week for the first sail of the sailing season (finally made it through tax season). Upon retrieval, I noticed that one of the new boards had broken. The weather and water conditions were not bad during any retrievals. Is this an unusual problem??

Not in my experience!

I've had my 23.5 (forerunner to your 240) since 1996, and have never experienced a broken bunk board. I suspicion the new board had a weakness of some sort.

240 bunk boards

Has anyone replaced the 2 2x6's with a 2x10? I'm never quite exactly lined up pulling back onto the trailer and the swing Keel always seems to be on one board or the other, creating a dangerous looking sag. Ken
