Trailer Parts and Info
On the front frame of your trailer will be a plaque that gives basic info about the trailer. This will include the VIN number, GVWR, and most importantly to you, the GAWR (Gross Axle Weight Rating) of your trailer. Trailer axles tend to come in only a few specific ratings, 3500 lb, 5200 lb and so on. You will want the next larger size from what is printed on the plaque – the GAWR might be lower than one of the standard axle ratings due to the tires fitted at time of certification and manufacture. For example, if you had a 3200 lb GAWR – then you would buy a 3500 lb axle. You will also need to verify the number and bolt circle diameter of the lug nuts, especially for 3500 lb axles. The link attached is one source that will have the information to answer price and similar questions, as well as how to measure the lug nut spacing. I think the info is also available on Champion’s website. You can probably get your questions answered by either of these companies.Best o' Luck,Kevin
