Has anyone ever actually towed an O'day 25 with a Toyota Tacoma,6Cylinder? It is rated for 5000Ibs. I realize bigger is always better concerning tow vehicles, however I only want to pull it out of the water in the fall and drop her in again in the spring, flat roads less then 20miles. I've heard tales where Tacomas pulled over 6000Ibs. Thanks for any insight you guys may have.....

Boat and trailer

Bob, I think you will find that your trailer is about 2000# +/- if it is a dual axle. The 25 O'Day is 4000# bare naked. Motor, equipment is not included. I guess that my boat and trailer with some equip is about 6500#. I don't know about the Toyoto. r.w.landau

Tow with Ford Ranger

I have pulled my 25 out of the water and towed it 8-10 miles with my 6 cylinder Ford Ranger. My trailer has a tongue extension which is a major help. My neighbor stood by with his grown up truck in case the Ranger wouldn't pull the boat out of the water, but it came out with no problem at all. I waited to retreive the boat at high tide, which also helped. I kept my speed down to 35 MPH and made it home with no problems. No way would I tow at highway speed, but I didn't feel at all unsafe as long as I took my time.

Thanks!

I appreciate the info. I'll put in a Trans cooler and I should be able to do it..... Bob
