NorSea 27 Az., Doing the To-Do list
Hi all,

Not to long ago, Jill and I bought a new trailer for Guenevere. She was in Guaymas Mexico in the yard, and in need of a refit. We do not (yet) have a truck to tow her, BUT Ed & Ellen Zacko do, and volunteered to drive down and tow us back to Az. Soooooo, that is what we did.

I used a new video camera to document the trip and have just posted it to YouTube. It's a bit over 9 min long and shows us loading Guenevere, adjusting the boat for and aft, lowering the mast and taking off.

If you are interested, you can see the video at;

*** A quick warning, it is in 3D, BUT, you do NOT have to watch it in 3D. Down at the bottom of the video is a small red “3D” icon. Just click on that and select “no 3D” and it will show normally. IF you have the red/cyan glasses or a 3D TV, you watch it that way also.

Greg;

Before you tow inside Mexico, make sure you check with your insurance carrier that you have Mexican insurance both on the tow vehicle and trailer. Without it and you are stopped could create alot of issues. Therefore, you will need to purchase insurance that will be vailid in Mexico.

Be safe driving down there.

Dave,

We lived and cruised in Mexico for years. This video is of our return to the US, without having to do the "bash".

The only insurance we had to take care of was to get insurance in the USA!:)

Greg;

It use to be that if you were in an accident in Mexico without insurance, you were going to experience trouble no matter the liability. In fact, many companies will not insure vehhicles in that country which is why you have to be careful what is actually stated in the policy. Now with all the drugs and killings south of the border, it is even more important that you make certain. Of course when you cross into the US, that is a different story.

no US issued policy is acceptable to the mexican police if you are in an accident,your fault or not.they only accept liability insurance from a mexican company.and if there are any injuries they will definately impound your truck and boat until all matters are settled wheather your at fault or not.

Guys,
First, the video of us towing back from Guaymas, Mexico to the USA is now at;
Towing Video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9FcG4H_dQyQ&feature=share&list=UUyGH1-xOhCotpV_zhSzQq7g

I re-did it for a couple of spelling errors.....My bad

Next-----:confused:
I am not sure if you are addressing the comments to me or each other.
After living and cruising in Mexico for over 4 years we were very familiar with the Mexican laws relating to driving and towing!

My statement was that the only insurance we had to get was for the USA! We were completely cover in Mexico WITH Mexican insurance! Just no US insurance. And just as we had to have it in Mexico from a Mexican company, we needed US insurance from a US carrier.:)

In previous posts that was not mentioned that you had Mexic an insurance but for those who do plan to drive and tow if that is the case, get Mexican insurance before you cross the border or drive in Mexico. Thank you for telling us you had the foresight to have Mexican insurance. I use to go to Mexico to pick up cars that were stolen and found there but before driving, I paid for that insurance till I crossed the border but times have now changed with all the gangs, drugs and so forth south of the border.
