small 6 cylinder is marginal but I have a couple fo folks pulling. Is yours a 4 wheel driveI find it amusing about the comment of going slow uphill. Gee, when a tractor trailer is empty going uphill, they wizz by but mighty funny they go mighty slow uphill when loaded. Law of physicsI guess. Crazy Dave Condon

Dave,My Ranger is not 4x4. I think I could probably get a 23.5 or 240 up and down the ramp at my reservoir without much slippage (plus I always have a tow strap with me in case I lose traction and need to rely on some neighborly help). I know I don't stand a chance with a 26.

I tow ours with an astro, vortex "v"6.But I dont do 90 mph. Some where around 55 works well both for me, the famely, and the van.Now theres another option, Rent a truck. Think about it,pick the size you like, even take it on a trip, for 10 days,and the rental price will be about the same as a-----well, a months payment on a new truck. And if it breaks,thayll give you another one!! Dave B.

Ken;You probably could pull the 260 up the ramp if in low but with most vechiles that are light ended on the rear, a common problem is slippage of the tires. Two reasons are gravel and slime or algae which I always recommend taking a broom. Do you know of anyone in the area who has either the old style 26 or 260. You may want toa ask the local dealer if you could pull theirs as a prerequiteve to purchasing a 260. Good LuckDave Condon

we tried renting

When we bought our first H240, we had no tow vehicle and my plan was to rent one. I found the mileage charge made it very expensive to rent just a pickup, much less something larger. Also lots of trouble to pick it up and return. We only tried that once, then bought a used chevy half ton PU with 350 V8. We love it and use it a lot. We towed the boat over wolf creek pass last summer with no problems. (We're in the Denver area).

believe it or not

we tow a 240 with a 6 cyl Taurus.A bit slow to accelerate, but drives OK at 55 or 60. High winds causes some swing. Have made 7 trips of 150 mi one way. Prefer to leave in the slip.I DID NOT WANT TO BUY MY BOAT A NEW CAR OR TRUCK.works just fine to tow from storage to slip once a year.
