They are out there, but probably not too many. A C27 is very heavy requiring a big tow vehicle. Plus, due to the size, it's a big job lauching and recovering them. You might try here: www.catalina27.org

My first husband and I had a 1984 Catalina 27 that we towed with a 1/2 ton Chevy truck with 454 engine at the time. We towed it from Fresno,CA to Ventura,CA over "the grapevine" a few times. In fact we picked up the boat when it was new from the Woodland Hills factory and towed it home. It looks funny cuz the boat sat so much higher than the truck. When looking out the rear view mirror you had great visability cuz you were looking under the boat at the traffic behind you.

I recall that the truck handled it fine, although at 84K miles we did have to replace the transmission. Anyway we just stayed in the right hand (slow) lanes. We always went down hill in a gear lower than we used going uphill. I believe that was to protect the brakes on the truck and trailer.

Hope that info helps.

You need at least a 3/4 ton for a C27...anything less would greatly exceed the tow vehicle's GCWR. In fact, a gas 3/4 ton would not have enough GCWR for a boat of this size and weight.

Do Not Be Afraid!!!

So many people in these posts are scared to death of trailering with a pick up truck. Go ahead and do it, it will be no problem with proper brakes on the trailer. Most power boats are alot heavier than the 27 to 30 Catalinas.
Just size the trailer and the truck properly and you will love it. You will need the proper ramp though, and an extendable tounge on the trailer. If the marina lifts it with the travel lift then no worries.
