Knock wood, I have not needed a tow. But if it is ever necessary what are the procedures for connecting a line to the bow. Currently, I have a bow eye with a single bolt. I replaced the wood backing wedge on the inside of the bow, but still this does not seem very sturdy. Would it be better to install a two bolt bow eye? The forward deck cleats don't seem study enough to take any load, they are made of black nylon. I replaced the washers on the deck underside with steel plates. I probably should have installed steel cleats at the same time. Any ideas?

hi greg, the catalina direct " owners handbook" offers a two bolt eye (page 4.35 and 5.11 pn D1126 ). if you are going to get towed it will spread the load a little.john

Bow Eye

You want to use double bow eye, not the single.I replaced my bow eye this past summer after the wood block rotted inside the hull and the bow eye became loose. The wood block supports the bow eye inside the hull.I had to drill a third hole above the previous two holes due to a lack of clearance inside the hull for the wood block to securely hold the bow eye.The bow eye is now very secured.
