I lookedup the towing capacity on my Toyota 2005 Sienna van, it's rated for 3500lbs. Could my family van be able to tow a Mac 25? I am consider buying a used Mac 25 boat. JH
Check the rating description again. Is 3500# total added weight? Including passengers, gear, gas, motor trailer and boat? If so, you're very tight without a Xmission cooler. I don't know what a 25 weighs but someone here will tell us in short order. Great group of sailors here. Steve
But I have a Mac26S. I've only towed it once with the van but it was like a 8 hour tow. Van did fine, the trailer is another story. Not sure how the 25 is but you really want to make sure you have a lot of tounge weight.
I have a 2005 Sienna towing a M26S just fine. M26S is rated 1650 # + 1200 water balast which you don't carry on the trailer. M25 weight in at 2100 # + 625 # Iron balast which stay on the trailer. You need to add about 150 # outboard motor and provisions to the total weight. My friend at the club tow her M25 with a Ford Toraus station wagon (V6) with no problem. Just need to put all the stuff forward of the wheels to add weight to the front to avoid swaying.
